This is a night vision scope that I built from a surplus image intensifier tube. This tube originally served in a leopard tank but was disposed off because it has tiny black spots on its screen. That’s why I could buy it for only 11 euro’s at a dumpstore. It is powered by a CCFL inverter with a 15 stage voltage multiplier behind it to give the tube an approximate 15kV of operation voltage it needs.
The eyepiece comes from a handheld camera, the front lens is a pentax style camera lens. Everything is built into a T-piece of plumbing pipe. The scope runs on two 9V battery blocks. On the top of the scope sits an infrared light for illumination in total darkness. This is a regular flashlight with an infrared filter to prevent visible light from shining out.
The scope actually performs well and gives a nice and sharp image. It works especially good in near field situations that the lamp reaches, for example in a closed room/dark house. Out in the ‘fields’ it enlightens the environment a little, but it doesn’t do wonders on long distance views. On my website there’s more detail on how it works and how it’s made: www.jiskar.nl

josh is a senator’s aide who kindly went to see david sedaris with me then we ran to go see the Darjeeling Limited in georgetown, because i had to see it opening night. he knew all of the words to the french song in the credits and sang along. josh is a good guy, from wisconsin. friendly, we talked a lot, but not too much. i didn’t want to get romantic with him.

so for my final project in drawing we had to create a still life and then draw it using tools/medium of our choice. so i set up this. but have no idea which photo to use. i think i will let my teacher decide tomorrow. but i do want to use pen and ink on either illustration board or paper. (probably board though)
